UPTOWN MARKET, BEAVERTON OREGON
On Saturday, January 24th 2015, we visited a number of breweries around the Portland-metro area in celebration of my birthday and the second place we stopped was the Uptown Market on SW Schools Ferry Road. None of us had been there before and as you can see from the outside picture, it’s sort of a 7-11 vibe but just for beer. They don’t have food inside, but a food truck parked outside in the small parking lot. Speaking of the inside, you’ll find beer on draft at the counter, beer in bottles and cans on the shelves and coolers, and a few wine bottles along the short wall. They also have some home-brewing stuff available for purchase as well spread about the store.
The people that work there are really up on what they are doing, and will go out of their way to help you if you have questions. The reader-board by the counter (as shown in the picture) does provide information about each of the beers on draft, either their own or guest taps. They do have a large LCD TV by the tables that usually has sports on. The tables and chairs are somewhat of an informal setting with lots of extra chairs for larger groups to hang out it seems.
We sampled the 4 beers that they had of their own on draft (as shown in the pictures below), as well as one 22oz. bottle from Long Brewing which is also included below. Overall the Uptown beers are pretty good, the flavor profiles are pretty forward and distinct. I would suggest talking to the workers if you go there about their beers, and what you are looking for. As you can see in the pictures, they have a pretty large bottle selection in their fridge and shelves.

![]() Uptown Market • Session Ale • IBU: 26 • ABV: 4.9% Malts: 2-row, crystal malts, just a dash of rye malt Hops: Crystal Really lite yellow hue, head disappears quickly, grassy dry hop nose, sharp hop notes on the front almost like a pils in mouthfeel and body. |

![]() Uptown Market • Imperial Stout • IBU: ?? • ABV: 10.1% 40+ SRM, nice lacing from the deflated slight off white head. Roasted coffee on the nose. Dry burned cardboard. Slight dry finish. Lacking enough malt sweetness to balance the hop and bitters. |
|
![]() Long Brewing • Kölsch • IBU: ?? • ABV: 5.5% Super clean from the bottle, but light carbonation didn’t provide enough head for us. The body falls a little flat due to this also. Grassy dry hop notes on the nose. Slight yeast and grassy to earthy notes on the mid and little after taste. Has the right amount of sweetness and malt build to make it memorable and stand up to any German Kölsch. |
